How to Keep Your Bright Eyes Light in the Best Condition Possible

Coon hunting lights are a necessity when you’re out in the forest at night. They let you see where you’re going and prevent you from tripping or getting hurt. They are also essential for spotting and tracking your prey in the trees.

These lights cost hundreds of dollars, which is a pretty hefty investment. While they’re more than worth the cost, it pays to take care of your lights. If you keep your lights in the best physical and working condition possible, you’ll also spend less on repairs and replacements.

So, how should you treat your coon hunting light, and what can you do to keep it in good condition? Let’s take a look!

Power Off

This one may seem pretty obvious, but turn your light off when you’re not using it. Even though the batteries are rechargeable, it still adds wear to your light in the long run. To keep your light in pristine condition, turn it on when you’re using it and off when you’re not. It’s that simple.

Keep it Charged

Not that long ago, charging your light was a complicated process. You could only charge it when the battery reached a certain percentage, and you had to charge it completely. You also couldn’t leave it on the charger after it was fully charged. Trying to get the timing perfect was a huge hassle, with the risk of harming your battery if you weren’t diligent.

Fortunately, times have changed for the better. Your Bright Eyes light won’t sustain any charging damage. You can charge it between each use. You can also leave it on the charger as long as you like without risking any damage. In fact, we recommend that you always charge it between uses and keep it fully charged. This way, you’ll always be prepared for a long hunt.

Keep it Clean

While a bit of dirt and mud won’t hurt your light, it’s not a good idea to leave it on there. You definitely don’t have to worry about it while you’re on a hunt, but when you get home, it’s best if you can wipe down all the parts with a rag. If necessary, use a little water. This way, there won’t be any dirt or debris blocking part of your beam the next time you go out, and your light stays in the best condition possible.

Keep it Dry

Your Bright Eyes light is water-resistant, but it’s still important to keep it dry. It’ll stand up to rain, so you don’t have to try to protect it if you get caught out in a storm, but it should never be submerged in water. Once you’re out of the rain, it’s best if you wipe it down with a dry rag or towel to keep it in optimal condition.

Store it Away

When you’re not using your light, keep it in a cool, dry place. Excessive heat or higher temperatures will slowly degrade the LEDs, so leaving your light out in your truck in the heat is not the best idea. It won’t ruin it, but it will take a toll over time. Store your light somewhere safe, and you’ll keep it running smoothly a lot longer.

Treat your Bright Eyes light like you would any of your other tools. Take care of it, and it will take care of you when you’re out on a hunt.
